Contributions to the knowledge of Palaearctic Tineidae

چکیده
Examination of tineid specimens from the Mediterranean Region has resulted in the discovery of two new taxa, Eudarcia (Abchagleris) jaworskii and Eudarcia (Neomeessia) alanyacola. The previously unknown female genitalia of Nemapogon somchetiella Zagulajev, 1961 and Infurcitinea vanderwolfi Gaedike, 1997 are described for the fi rst time. A study of Monopis bisonella Šumpich, 2011 revealed that this taxon is a junior synonym of Monopis burmanni, 1979. New country records are given for six species. Introduction Through the courtesy of colleagues, I have been able to examine several interesting tineid specimens from various areas, mainly from the Mediterranean Region. As a result, two new species are described, as well as the previously unknown female genitalia of two other species. From my friend Willibald Schmitz I received several specimens from Jordan, and the identifi cation of these specimens has increased our knowledge of the tineid fauna of this country. The information on the distribution of the taxa, mentioned below, is based on studied material. Additionally it was possible to examine the newly described Monopis bisonella Šumpich, 2011 and a comparison with Monopis burmanni Petersen, 1979 revealed that bisonella is a synonym of burmanni.

Present state of the knowledge of the Palaearctic Microchelonus species: 1) In Tobias (2010) monographed 434 Microchelonus species occuring in the Palaearctic Region of which Tobias alone has described 379 new species during the last five decades. 2) His monographic survey essentially promoted the identification of the Palaearctic species. In the present contribution 86 known Microchelonus spec...
متن کاملCaterpillars and cases of Tineidae (Clothes Moths, Lepidoptera) from Baltic amber (Eocene)
A first analysis of caterpillars of Tineidae and their cases preserved in Eocene Baltic Amber is presented, and an ecological interpretation based on comparisons with extant Tineidae is given. Several informative syninclusions (e.g., mammal hairs, Psocoptera) of two of the cases suggest that the caterpillars of some Tineidae in the Baltic Amber forest occupied comparable ecological niches as th...

متن کاملA molecular phylogeny and revised classification for the oldest ditrysian moth lineages (Lepidoptera: Tineoidea), with implications for ancestral feeding habits of the mega-diverse Ditrysia
The Tineoidea are the earliest-originating extant superfamily of the enormous clade Ditrysia, whose 152 000+ species make up 98% of the insect order Lepidoptera. Though more diverse than all non-ditrysian superfamilies put together (3719 vs 2604 species), the tineoids are not especially species-rich among ditrysian superfamilies. Their phylogenetic position, however, makes tineoids potentially ...
